LeavingCardMessages started as a single tool to solve one very specific problem. It has since grown into a suite of free tools designed to take the stress out of two of life’s most common blank-page moments — writing a card and finding the right gift.

Every week, thousands of people across UK offices are handed a leaving card and immediately freeze. The card gets passed around and everyone ends up writing some version of “have a great next adventure!” — for the fortieth time. We searched for a tool that could actually help and found nothing but pages of generic quote lists with no way to make any of them feel personal.

“Nobody had built a proper tool — something that asks who the person is, what they’re like, and where they’re going, then writes something specific to them. So we built it.”

The card message tool launched first and quickly grew to cover nine occasions — leaving, birthday, sympathy, retirement, thank you, new baby, get well, and congratulations. Shortly after, we launched the gift finder to solve a second problem just as common: standing in a shop (or on Amazon) with no idea what to buy someone.

Both tools share the same goal — give you something genuinely useful in under a minute, completely free, with no sign-up required.
